3 Days running Capt's Longhouse

Capt Shariff Abas is away at Miri to visit his family for 2 weeks, while the temporary house captain, General Roslan have to go back to KL for an urgent matter. So I was summoned by the Captain to go back to Kapas and help Baharom to actually run the place. Capt's Longhouse. It is up to us, the two awak-awak to keep the place up to scratch and hopefully generate some money out of it. Baharom the boatman, experienced in seafarer and Island lifestyle, and I, a weekend helper, with a little expertise in the PR side.

Long story short, I arrived in Kapas Friday afternoon and we were on our own from Saturday noon to tuesday afternoon. Reflecting on this unforgettable period, I think we were not too shabby indeed. And I certainly took pride with the all smiles and berat hati departure of our clients whom their names I can still recall. Alessandro (ITA) and Rocio (SPA), Tom (HOL), Diego (SPA),Flora (FRA), Cecilia (FRA) and Bertrand (FRA), Christoph (GER) and also the Ba'occi Family from Italy. These are the client who were participating and friendly but they were also others who prefered to stay in their rooms and be on their day privately. It was fullhouse with only spaces in the dorm available.

We cooked, serve drinks, had Karaoke night, organized a snorkelling trip and chilled out in the sun, sea, sand. It was really fun and tiring at the same time.

Another thing that I could be proud of is that we served dinner with me as the chef. I cooked Baracuda Palermo style, which I picked up from a cook book I bought in Glasgow,
Easy Italian.
It gave me real pleasure seeing those empty plates and good comments from the French! Particularly, Flora and Cecilia.

They came and fulled up the house at around the same time, and left to continue their travels on the same day. The house was cleared by monday afternoon and that gave us the chance to catch our breath and relax for a bit. I certainly enjoyed dozing off early last night. But I do miss the crowd and atmosphere over the 3 days.

Some Pics,

It was my pleasure to have served you all and here's hoping for more to come!

p/s-It was also great that I didn't miss my puasa while working my ass off here in Kapas.

Cheers.
